There is really no other way to begin than to tell you personally and directly our retreat this past January surpassed all our expectations by a wide margin. And they were already very high based on what we'd heard from others about this remarkable retreat center, the nearby village, and the local people. This 7-day retreat is for you to relax, play, and connect where the jungle meets the sea. The emphasis is on movement, nature, pleasure, fun, and connection. Each day we'll move together blending a variety of practices and modalities including Yoga, Contact Improv, and Conscious/Ecstatic Dance. There'll be plenty of free time and of course you are always at choice about your participation and engagement level.

Begin 2027 with a week-long retreat at the spectacular yoga and wellness resort of Mar de Jade located about 90 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. This epic wellness and retreat center is nestled between the tropical jungle and pristine sandy beach of Chacala, Mexico.

Enjoy the following:

• Morning yoga sessions

• Daily Contact Improv classes and jams

There will be plenty of time to relax as well. Take a nap in a hammock, a gentle swim in the warm ocean, or lounge by the pool and hot tub. Special excursions including hikes, whale watching, ancient petroglyphs, and massages also available.

Food and Farm

Meals at Mar de Jade are delicious and well balanced buffet-style meals served three times daily in the open-air dining room overlooking Chacala bay. Every dish is made daily from scratch using fresh ingredients from their Organic Farm. The menu is inspired by traditional Mexican cuisine and international flavors, and features vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dishes as well as fresh fish, seafood, and chicken. They do not serve red meat or pork.

The kitchen is happy to accommodate your dietary restrictions and food allergies, if given advance notice. All of the raw foods are carefully disinfected and washed with purified water. Free purified water is available at stations throughout the grounds.

Throughout the day visit the snack bar at any time to enjoy coffee, tea, fruit, bread, and the stellar homemade organic peanut butter and mango marmalade.

Costs

The basic expenses for the trip are the retreat cost and Mar de Jade accommodations (see rates below) which includes 3 delicious meals. IMPT NOTE: you can only stay at Mar de Jade and must book something with them to attend the retreat!

*If you want a room all to yourself, it's an extra $650-$1050

The resort also can arrange for some great activities including whale watching, horseback riding, shopping at nearby towns all at additional expense if you'd like some further adventures. Sign up for them once you arrive. There's an amazing hike up to a volcanic caldera with jaw dropping views and then down to a secluded beach. Then a boat ride back in time for lunch. Most of the group did this last year and I'm planning on doing it again!

First, pay your retreat cost

Make your $395 payment and register here today! This reserves your spot at the retreat which is limited to 25 participants.

Payment covers all classes, workshops, jams, and dances.

Second, book your accommodations

1. After you pay your retreat cost, you will be contacted to book your accommodations by placing a 50% deposit. The balance is due two weeks prior to arrival.

2. Rooms are assigned on a first-reserved basis and guests are encouraged to book early for a wider choice of room types and occupancy.

Cancellation Policy

Full refund of accommodation charges (less $50) for cancellations up to December 1st, 2026. After December 1st, a 50% refund if space can be filled. Please note, when cancelling you must cancel separately with Mar de Jade (see their policy on their website).

Passport

You must carry a valid passport and the passport must be valid for at least 6 months. No visa is required.

Currency Exchange

Credit cards are generally accepted. In Chacala, there are a few shops that may exchange dollars to pesos. If you travel to a larger town, there are banks for currency exchange. It is recommended that you bring at least $25.00 in pesos to cover small expenses.

Getting There

The closest major airport is Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. Airport code: PVR. All major US carriers (Alaska, American, United, Southwest, Frontier) as well as Mexican, Canadian and some European charter flights serve Puerto Vallarta. There are many daily non-stop and connecting flights from US, Canadian and Mexican major cities.

Mar de Jade will arrange transportation to/from the airport with a trusted company. But it is a little early to do this - we will send an email out a few months before the workshop reminding you to do this. It is highly recommended that you let Mar de Jade handle the shuttle to and from the resort. It much cheaper if you share the ride with others - with 10 passengers, the cost is about $30.00.

I'll say a bit here but you absolutely must go to their website to really see and appreciate how special and glorious this place is. You'll particularly want to watch their 7-minute video...so inspiring! Mar de Jade is so much more than a seaside retreat. It is also has an organic farm, a school for local children, and a medical clinic for the village. There are volunteer opportunities if you'd like to be of service after our retreat.
