About the event

Flight School 101

An 8 class series

Apr 2 - May 21

Thursday Nights

7:00pm to 8:50pm

301 Center St. in Santa Cruz

** YOU CAN STILL JOIN THIS SERIES **

We've only had one class in the series so this is still a great time to join in! Registration closes after next week though.

"Flying" is one of Contact Improv's greatest joys. Lifting and being lifted, floating with the support of a partner, a sudden rise and fall in the dynamic exchange of weight. An impulsive leap and a creative catch or deflection...all these things are available to us if we are willing to take a few risks AND learn some basics principles. In this way (along with some effective verbal and non-verbal communication techniques) we are able to increase safety, heighten enjoyment, and expand our sense of possibility.

You will learn:

  • specific verbal and non-verbal "flight cues"

  • pathways and strategies for falling/landing

  • effective methods for transferring weight

  • low level vs. "high-in-the-sky" flying

  • multi-axis core connection and inversion

  • plus many more helpful hints and approaches for ease and exhilaration

This 8 class series is only offered once a year so be sure to be there if you've been yearning to develop and grow in this area.

All levels of experience are welcome with some prior instruction in CI required. You can choose your engagement level at anytime or totally refuse a particular activity. You are always at choice in any of my classes!

IMPORTANT: Please do not wear jeans or things with buttons, buckles, or anything pointy or sharp. Also no watches or jewelry please. Wear comfortable, stretchable clothing you can move in. Bring both a long sleeve and a short sleeve shirt if possible. A water bottle as well, if you like.

Guide and facilitator Daniel Mollner. Remember to register early and save! You must pay for the full series and be able to make 6 of the 8 classes. No drop-ins.
