Then this 3-day residential training is for you! We will spend some time the first day making sure everyone can work with the basics of Traktor Pro 3 and their controller (see req'd gear info below) before diving into the deeper end of the pool by curating and mixing for each other. There will be lots of movement as well over the course of the weekend.

If you've never DJ'd before you will emerge knowing how to create a basic set that is a unique and potent expression of you and mix it live. If you've DJ'd previously you will emerge from the training with a new world of possibilties and perspectives on the art and craft of DJing. The emphasis of this training is on curation and journey-building along with the responsibilities/opportunities of being a space holder.

This is a residential training held at our beautiful property Skyview in the Santa Cruz mountains. Meaning that you come and stay for the whole weekend. Tent or car camping. Organic vegetarian meals (vegan/gf options) are included. See FAQ page for details.

Friday, April 26

6:30pm to 9:30pm  Traktor Basics plus movement session

Saturday, April 27

10am to 1pm  Dance Journey Theory and movement session

2pm to 5pm  The Art of Curation & The Embodied DJ

6pm  Dinner

7pm to 9pm  DJ jam session (hands on practice and exploration)

Sunday, April 28

10am to Noon  DJ Lab and movement session

12pm  Lunch

1pm to 2:30pm  Gear, Tech, & Money

2:30 pm to 4pm  Closing and Integration

This training can accommodate UP TO 18 PEOPLE MAX and is being held at Skyview in the Santa Cruz moutains (an hour from downtown Santa Cruz, an hour from San Jose Int'l airport). Carpooling and/or Shuttle Service available.

$470 Early Bird (ends 3/07)

$590  TIER ONE (ends 4/05)

You will need to arrive with Traktor Pro 3 installed on a laptop along with any of the Traktor controllers. You will need to complete two simple preparatory lessons (allow four hours total time) that I provide advance instruction for to familiarize yourself with the set up and test the system so that you can begin the training on Friday with some working knowledge already in place, and a functioning basic DJ set up.

You must be able to attend all days of the training from start to finish. No exceptions.

This is an "in-person" training, no online option is possible.

If you identify as a woman/BILPOC/LGBTQIA+  I especially want you with us if you feel called. To reduce any possible financial barriers, I offer you a partial scholarship of $300 to help you get there. You will still need to buy or borrow the gear and software if you don't have it already, of course. I personally don't have any gear I can lend you, unfortunately.

Minimum Gear requirements:

Traktor Pro 3 software ($99)

Traktor Z1 controller (this is their lowest priced model at $219 new, $150ish used)

** Any of the other Traktor controllers will work for this training as well
